Search with your word

Background

You can't search for words you don't know.

If you want to know something, you need to substitute some words and search for it. Even in your native tongue it can be difficult sometimes. Think of what you're going to find out and if you don't put it in the right words, the results will be bad. Garbage in Garbage out, garbage in, garbage out. Still, many people can do it in their native language. The predictive conversion is also very useful. I guess we all want to know the same thing.

What if it's a foreign language? What if what you want to know is in a foreign country? It's easy to translate, but it's a bit of a hassle. Of course, you can designate a region, but it's still a bit of a hassle. Let's try to make it a little bit more convenient for you in this article.

How to use

  1. enter a search term in the search window. The language must be compatible with Google Translate. Please select the language you have entered.

  2. enter the language you want to translate. If you don't need a translation, just press the arrow button and the same language will be set.

  3. change your search engine or region, if necessary. You can choose a region for each of the search engines. If you don't specify anything, it will be all regions.

  4. Press the 🔍 button, or press the Enter (Return) key. It will automatically translate and display the search results in a separate tab.

Functions

  • You can select Google Translateable characters.
  • Google Suggestion is working. Displays based on the language set as the original language.
  • You can choose Google and DuckDuckGo as your search engines.
  • You can select a region for each search engine.
  • Input values, except for search terms, are recorded in the browser. However, we do not keep a record of what you search for on this site. Each search engine is responsible for its own handling of your search.

Technology

  • Google Suggest API or Autocomplete API

    It is used to implement autocomplete, which can display and select a probable candidate for the entered character.

    API is as following.

    http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search

    Or

    https://www.google.com/complete/search

    Parameters are as following.

    This page could be useful。

    For example, in case that you want to get a response of the word USA Pre with JSON format, the request may be as following.

http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?q=USA%20Pre&client=firefox&hl=en

  • Google Apps Script & Google Translate The translation is handled by calling the Google Translate API in Google Apps Script and creating an API that returns the result.

    1. Create or prepare your Google account.

    2. Access Google Apps Script and make new project.

    3. Create the code as follows. However, the API is admittedly slow and even the correct request may not return a result for spec reasons.It could be useful for you to see the specification.

      function doGet(e) {
        var p = e.parameter;
        var translatedText = LanguageApp.translate(p.text, p.source, p.target);
        var body;
        if (translatedText) {
          body = {
            code: 200,
            text: translatedText,
          };
        } else {
          body = {
            code: 400,
            text: "Bad Request",
          };
        }
        var response = ContentService.createTextOutput();
        response.setMimeType(ContentService.MimeType.JSON);
        response.setContent(JSON.stringify(body));

        return response;
      }
    4. Publish the API.

Finally

It is very simple. I hope I can be of some help to you.
